Kunene is a rugged region in northwestern Namibia, famous for its remote desert landscapes and the Epupa Falls where you can swim in cool pools during the dry winter months (60-75°F / 15-24°C). In the hot summer (85-100°F / 29-38°C), you can track desert-adapted elephants in the dry riverbeds of Damaraland or visit Himba villages to learn about their traditions. The summer rains from December to April turn the desert green, making it the best time for spotting oryx and springbok near the Skeleton Coast.
